I am struck by this page.

Read, circulate; let us realise, relate and deal with it suitably.

This is our Environment.

  4. Oh how sad.... That little boy is looking through the trash... Wonder what he is looking for? Food? Doesn't that picture just break your heart?

We are doing a little better in the USA with recycling, at least some of us. Hubby and I go to the recycling center at least once a week.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  5. Welcome here Vineeta, Betsy!

As Vineeta rightly said, it is a reality, the boy is probably looking for stuff to recycle.

  7. Yes, Indrani, it is.

We have to teach a lot first, and then solve this. When is the question.

  9. Yes, we do. For a small lane, that we live, I try my best to yell at some unruly neighbours throwing it on the street. Thankfully, our local admin has some sweepers come in once a week, who clean the roads.
Since they clean, people throw with abandon. Even those who have visited USA proudly , a number of times, throw it in front of their gate!!!

  10. This is a common picture, here in Chennai! Nagercoil is nearly plastic free now because of the effort taken by their collector and people.

  11. Hi Sandhya,

Metros are becoming garbage ridden, and administrations do not bother.
Hats off to the Collector,Nagarcoil, who has taken his job seriously , to implement strict rules.

Wish many more of the administrators would follow him!

  12. Waste management and recycling are major global concerns. Children used to rummage through garbage to collect recyclable materials is a tragedy in all developing countries: http://www.projectpearls.org/

  14. I really liked the garbage disposal system followed at the Koyambedu market (Chennai). We need to find solutions as I heard that one of the cleanest cities in Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram started stinking.

  15. Yes, PNS sir. I think Chennai has done well in certain pockets.
    Other cities are stinking still.

  17. Our throw away, consumer society is becoming worse and worse when it comes to generating rubbish. Even with recycling, as more and more people live in the big cities rubbish generation increases. It's Abigail problem...

  18. I think that this waste issue in countries all around the world is going to be one of the biggest downfalls, we need to fix it ASAP. This garbage nightmare won't end until everyone is doing their part.
